The Road to London isn’t Easy [17-02-2012]
The recent Olympic football qualifier between South Korea and Saudi Arabia was intense. Luckily, South Korea eked out a 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia. With only minutes remaining, midfielder Kim Bo-kyung took a headed pass from the penalty area and found the net with his left foot.

Preventing the national squad from a stunning upset, Kim’s goal put South Korea at the top of group A with eight points, with two wins and two ties. The team has two games left to play. Oman is currently one point behind South Korea in second place, Qatar has three points and Saudi Arabia has two. The road to the London Games will continue on February 22 as the national team faces Oman.

The final match is set for March 14. Seeking its seventh straight appearance at the Olympics, Korean footballers are hoping to win their first Olympic medal. The fight in London isn’t going to be easy. If history prevails, the Olympic soccer squad has only gotten past the first round twice.
